Melbourne Concept Store (2024)
Made in collaboration w/ Chair Boi
Located in Naarm, on the land of Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong Boon Wurrung Peoples. The store is kind of like a city, where the clothes racks are imagined as mini buildings. In the front they form a grand meeting place, with edges to occupy. In the back a funny angle matches the entry threshold, creating discrete and private viewing moments. The arrangement creates a circuit for one to navigate and rewards curiosity.
Made from White Oak the clothes racks express their construction. They have details that reflect Chris’s craft, Song’s values and speak to the hardware in the changing rooms. Additional furniture from John at Curve, add a comfortable, casual and thematically suitable place to sit.
Big paper lanterns are arranged like the night sky bathe the space in soft and flattering light. Special ‘Teardrop’ pendants from Curve act as a beacon in the window display. Exiting and entry through the deep threshold, made with hardwood and river stone brings part of the outside in, there is opportunity for occupation as well, making the window display an interactive experience.
